Road to Kijabe

These are some shots of our trip to Kijabe from Nairobi. Step one: waist some time at the Mennonite House we stayed in the night before while waiting for our driver:
Is it safe?

From the gardens of the Mennonite House: Worth one in the hand.

Even the trees are dangerous. This is looking up the tree trunk to the branches above.

After stopping at the grocery for supplies we hit the road. Here's one of the locals on the road.

Looking out on the Great Rift Valley. Mt. Longonot is the peak towards the left. Not pictured: a ton of locals peddling wares. They are like vultures swarming on tourists here.

Driving on the road down to Kijabe. It's pretty adventurous, and the ambulances from Kijabe have to drive this road to take patients to Nairobi for CT scans (and back) an hour away. I have video of a monkey we passed. It was pretty sweet.
